Free 20-min. mini-workshops: 

Join Alan Perry, the host of "Tech Talk" on C-FAX 1070 Radio, and Jenn Cairns, the founder of C, in the Technology Department at the Yates Street London Drugs store for free 20-minute technology mini-workshops.

These informal fun sessions will help you determine what gear will best meet your needs -- especially with no more security updates being issued for Windows XP after April 8th.

No need to pre-register; just join us in the Technology Department in the London Drugs Yates Street store, and take in one or more of the sessions!

If you like what you see and hear at these mini-workshops, you can sign up for full 90-minute workshops (see below) which include handouts because of all that you’ll learn. These are held in the Staff Training Room at the Tillicum Mall London Drugs store; the current schedule is here.

London Drugs wants to be known not just as the place to get amazing technology gear, but also where you learn how to use it and get all your questions answered.

That’s why London Drugs has invited Alan Perry, the host of "Tech Talk" on C-FAX 1070 Radio, and Jenn Cairns, the founder of eGurus.ca, to host enjoyable 90-minute interactive workshops for up to 12 people in the Staff Training Room in the London Drugs store in Tillicum Mall.

These fun workshops are perfect for beginners (except where noted below) and include handouts, so you don’t have remember all that you learn!

The cost for these workshops is $35 (no tax!). Because space is limited and they’re held in an area that’s normally off-limits to customers, you need to pre-register for these sessions by calling 250.590.2622 or by emailing [email protected]

How To Stay Safe Online and Create A Strong, Memorable Password Formula

2pm - Saturday, October 4

You can do amazing things on the internet, but as you've no doubt heard in the news, there are lots of online crooks out there trying to steal your identity and/or your money.

In this an eye-opening hands-on session, you'll learn how to avoid viruses, online scams, and attempts to steal your identity. We’ll also show you how to create and use unique passwords that are very secure but also easy to remember. And we’ll show you several ways to easily back-up your emails, documents, pictures, songs, videos, and other important files. You’ll go home with several handouts so you don’t have to remember all that you’ve learned!


Getting The Most Out Of An iPad and iOS 8

2pm - Saturday, October 18

If you’ve just bought an iPad or iPad mini, or are thinking of buying one, this fun, interactive session is for you!

We’ll show you lots of amazing things you can do with them, including the powerful new features in the just-released free upgrade to iOS 8.

We’ll demo some of the most useful free apps -- including one that lets you make free phone calls from anywhere in the world -- and we'll teach you how to use Siri, the free personal assistant that’s built into every iPad.

You’ll go home with a folder of handouts, so you don’t have to remember all the amazing things you'll learn!


Getting The Most Out Of Windows 7

4pm - Saturday, October 18

If you’ve just started using a computer running Windows 7, especially if you’ve just upgraded from Windows XP, this session is for you!

We’ll show you how to easily access the features you were used to in XP, plus, you’ll get to try out the many amazing additional things you can do with Windows 7.

In addition to leaving with several handouts so you don’t have to remember what you’ve learned, every participant will also get a free disc containing more than 3500 impressive Bing desktop wallpaper images from around the world.


Tech gear and apps for travelling

7pm - Thursday, October 2

If you’re going on a trip or thinking about taking one – even if you’re just going to the U.S. for a few days -- this session is for you! In this fun hands-on session, we’ll show you how to stay in touch while you’re away without breaking the bank. We'll demonstrate gear that can keep track of your luggage and recharge your devices on the go.

We’ll also demo a raft of useful apps that will make your travel experience more enjoyable and even save you money.

These include one that lets you make free phone calls from anywhere in the world, and others that track your luggage, find great travel deals, make instant reservations, and let you converse easily with people that speak different languages, as well as apps for currency conversions, airport terminal maps, travel guides, and more. You'll take home handouts that list the best travel tech gear and dozens of great travel apps -- and also spell out which ones are available for iPhones, iPads, Android and Windows Phone.

If you’ve just started using a computer running Windows 8.1, especially if you’ve just upgraded from Windows XP, this session is for you!

In this eye-opening hands-on session, you'll learn how to avoid viruses, malware, online scams, and attempts to steal your identity.

We'll show you how to protect your credit card numbers and passwords from being stolen if you're travelling.

We'll also help you create a strong but memorable password formula that will protect you from hackers.

You'll go home with a folder of handouts, so you won't have to try to remember all that you've learned!

Join C-FAX 1070 Radio "Tech Talk" host Alan Perry , and Jenn Cairns, the founder of eGurus.ca for fun and informative hands-on interactive workshops held right inside London Drugs stores in Greater Victoria.
